WHO AM I?

I’m sure you’re here to see what Right with Ash is all about but before you do that, here’s a little about the ‘Ash’ in the title:

I’m Ashley, a 21-year-old Psychology major with an avid passion for the English language. I have always been the ‘Ross’ among my friends, obsessing over the ‘who’ and ‘whom’ (something I secretly take pride in). I began proofreading as an amateur when my father, during his term as the secretary, would ask me to proofread the church newsletters before they were sent to be published. As I grew older, I found myself enjoying the art of copy-editing and restructuring content, all the while yearning to lay my hands on more. A well-intended article becomes all the more beautiful when the style appears clear and concise for its readers and that is what I want to do for you!

Through this service, I assure that the process of editing will be easy and stress-free for you. However, as simple as the service may seem, my work will be thorough, meticulous and inspired by you.

WHAT DO I GIVE YOU?

I offer simple and professional editing services for your writing needs. Based on your requirements, I do either one of the following:

• Advice and Copyedit

This service is suitable for clients who are nearing the end of their project and don’t want further significant changes to the text. If you are only looking to correct minor errors, in terms of spelling, punctuation and grammar and not for structural precision, this one’s for you. I will use Track Changes to comment on and edit the piece, leaving the freedom to accept or reject the changes to the clients. However, on receiving the text for copyediting, I may suggest that it may instead be subjected to Revise and Rewrite (in case there is need for heavy editing). Feel free to overrule this suggestion if you only want me to make sure that the text is free of obvious errors.

• Revise and Rewrite

This service is suitable for clients who have completed the first draft of their content and are not confident of their writing style, in terms of spelling, capitalization, tenses and structural precision. I will restructure your sentences to improve clarity and ensure no clumsiness, wordiness or inconsistencies in style. This service will be more extensive and exhaustive in detail and will not involve Track Changes (unless the client asks of it). The text will be reshaped so as to retain the meaning in a more sophisticated and stylistic manner.

My work includes editing and refining creative articles and assignments, website content, blog posts, voice over scripts, statements of purpose and the like. If your writing need does not fit under this umbrella, do send me a message and I would love to see if I can help.

WHAT DO YOU GIVE ME?

Each writing need is unique and personal, and requires a different level of attention. To help you develop your text and bring the best out of it, I would require to understand your need. These are the details I would need.

MY ASSURANCE

Editing may seem frivolous and a needless luxury to indulge in. However, as writers, you may have looked at the sentences so many times that you miss the scope for improving the content to be clear, concise and error-free. Well, if you don’t catch the inconsistencies, your readers will. As your editor, more than cutting words or correcting grammar, I would like to convey your idea back to you in a fresher way. Each copyeditor has their unique style and a different guidebook to follow. I know I do. However, if you would like to me to adopt a particular style, feel free to let me know and I will adhere to it as much as I can. I aim at perfecting your work and I will always work hard to achieve this. To err is human and I admit that is a possibility but I will not use that as an excuse to compromise on the service you have entrusted me with.
